Ted’s path to Rhode Island, and his career in commercial real estate was anything but conventional. After earning a degree in Economic Theory, Ted’s first job was framing houses for a contractor in Richmond, VA. He then headed to West Virginia for a brief stint working in a strip mine for the Battle Ridge Coal Company. Eventually, Ted, and a couple of college buddies, made their way to Little Compton, Rhode Island where they found work in the commercial fishing industry. Before long, Ted began running boats in various fisheries. In 1994, he bought his first boat and moved his business to Newport, where he has owned and operated Ocean Harvest for the last thirty years. Shortly after arriving in Newport, Ted began using his fishing proceeds to buy commercial real estate, initially as a place to base his business, and then as investments to be leased to other business owners in the area. Ted has owned, and does own, multiple commercial properties in the area.
